A heating element is something that converts electricity to heat through Joule's law. If the heating element is shaped like a coil, it is a heating coil.

Making something in a coil-like shape helps us to pack more length in a short span. As resistance is directly proportional to length, coiling a wire is a better technique than keeping it straight.
