In a combination reaction, two or more reactants combine to form a single product whereas in a decomposition reaction, a single reactant breaks into two or more products as a result of several different procedures, which we will discuss in another difference. This isn’t such well differentiated concept, but you can consider it, for the sake of consideration, a difference between the two types. It goes somewhat like this - Most combination reactions are exothermic in nature whereas, on the other hand, most decomposition reactions are endothermic , and that’s one more difference between the two types of reactions.

This difference is found rarely, but it indeed is a good difference to point out. In a combination reaction, the product when is formed, the temperature of the surrounding increases (discussed downwards) and so, if you keep some volatile substance near the beaker, then it will definitely vaporize faster, whereas, if an endothermic reaction is performed, then the nearby temperature falls down(discussed downwards), and so, the volatile substance may take a bit more time as compared to normal time required for that liquid to turn to vapour. So, one can say that practically if you perform a general combination reaction and keep any volatile substance near your setup, say water, then you will definitely observe that water turns faster into vapour as compared to normal observations, whereas, in another case, you will observe that the time taken by water to turn to a vapour is even lesser as compared to its normal time required to turn to its vapour form. This might be considered as a technical, practical and a good difference between the two type of reactions
