Concave Mirror is a mirror whose inner hollow surface is the reflecting surface. At smaller distance, it forms an erect and enlarged image. At larger distances, the image formed is inverted. The size of the image decreases as the distance from the mirror increases. For example- Concave mirrors are used as reflectors in the headlights of cars, searchlights, and torchlights, etc; and by dentists to focus light on the tooth to be examined. They are used as shaving and make-up mirrors to see the enlarged erect image of the face. For this, the face must be placed closer to the mirror. They are also used as radiation collectors in solar heating devices.

Convex Mirror is a mirror whose outer bulging surface is the reflecting surface. An erect and small image is formed and the image remains erect and smaller at all distances. For example-Convex mirrors are used as Rear-view mirrors or side view mirror(also called driver's mirror) in automobiles such as cars, trucks and buses to see the traffic coming from behind. They are also used as Staircase-mirrors on the double decker buses and as Vigilance-mirrors in big shops and stores.

Hope it helps!!
