Conventional energy: The natural energy resources that are used for many years which are accepted as fuel to produce heat, light and electricity and the energy obtained from them is referred to as conventional energy.

Eg: Coal

  • They have been in use since a long time.
  • Cause pollution.
  • They are common and widely used sources

Non-conventional energy: The energy generated by wind, tides, sun, geothermal heat and biomass is known as non-conventional energy.

Eg: Solar energy

  • They have been developed recently and are still developing.
  • Do not cause pollution.
  • They are new sources of energy and are not widely used.
