Juxta medullary nephron meaning ones that are close to medulla. They have a prominent loop of Henle which enables them to conserve water in stress conditions. (About 15℅ of nephron's are juxta- medullary ). Vasa Recta is present.
Cortical nephrons on other hand are located in cortex region of kidney. Their loop of Henle is very short and vasa recta is highly reduced or absent. They constitute about 85% of total.

Some points on Cortical nephrons are :-
1. These nephrons deal with the control of blood volume.
2. It is found in the cortex or close to the kidney surface.
3. It has short loop of henle.
4. The peritubular capillary network is present.
5. Vasa recta is absent or reduced.
Some points on Juxtamedullary nephrons :-
1. When the water is deficient, increased water retention occurs through this nephrons.
2. These nephrons are not well defined.
3. It is found at the junction of renal cortex and medulla.
4. Longer loop of henle.
5. Vasa recta is present.
