Crabs are comparatively smaller than prawns.

•Crabs have 10 true legs whereas prawns have 26 limbs.

Crabs live close to the shoreline and must have access to both land and water whereas prawns inhibit in fresh and estuarine waters.

•Crabs prefer to walk sideways whereas prawns show no preference for doing so.

•Only crabs as a species, are able to survive on land and in water.

They achieve this through having gills and lungs while in prawns respiration takes place through gills inside water.

Hermit crabs have non-calcified abdominal exoskeleton that makes their exogenous shelter system obligatory whereas Prawn's body is covered by calcareous shell composed of chitinous cuticles.
