Possible values of the test statistic are divided into two ranges. The range containing values that are consistent with the null hypothesis is the "acceptance region"; the other range, in which the null hypothesis is rejected, is the rejection region (or critical region).

CRITICAL REGION:-

  • The critical regionof the sampling of a distribution of a statistic is known as critical region.
  • it is the area of areas, of the sampling distributionof a static.
  • it leads to the rejection of the hypothesis tested when that hypothesis is true.

ACCEPTANCE REGION:-

  • the acceptance region is the set of values of a teststatistic for which the null hypothesis is accepted.
