Cross-Ply Laminate. A cross-ply laminate contains an arbitrary number of plies, each with a fiber orientation of either 0° or 90°, and it can be either symmetric or antisymmetric.

General laminates are combinations of the three basic arrangements: unidirectional, angle-ply, and cross-ply laminates. In applications the common lay-ups are (0, 45, 90)s and (0, 90, ±45)s, both quasi-isotropic.
