Always remember that while talking about metal cations,

'ic' refers to the higher oxidation state

While

'ous' refers to lower oxidation state of the metal cation.

Few examples are given below:

★Cupric- Cu+2

Cuprous- Cu+1

★Ferric- Fe+3

Ferrous- Fe+2

★Stannic- Sn+4

Stannous- Sn+2

Coming to your question above,
