Difference between curved surface area and total surface area

In curved surface area the area of base n top are not included whereas in total surface area all the surfaces r included... This question is relevant to solids like a cone, cylinder, hemisphere etc. Curved surface area or lateral surface area is the area of the curved surface on these.
