Cytikines are chemicals produced locally by cells to communicate with each other in a local way and are not secreted by glands but from individual cell membranes. In contrast, Hormones are secreted by endocrine glands and they proceed through the blood stream until they reach the target cells in specific tissues and organs. They are directed by pituitary gland in the brain.Hormone affect organs far from the site of origin.
