Multipurpose project.

1.A multipurpose project is that which fulfils a variety of purposes at the same time, for example - irrigation, generation of electricity, flood control, fish breeding, soil conservation, etc.
2.It is a modern concept.

DAMS
These are large structures constructed across a river or stream to redirect water or store water for irrigation and preventing floods.

MULTIPURPOSE PROJECTS
These are similar to dams but they are constructed not just for irrigation but also for electricity generation , inland navigation , fish breeding and recreation.
