The animals which are active in day are called day active animals. The animals which are active at night are called night active animals.

- Diurnal species are those species which are active during day time whereas nocturnal species are active at night time. In most cases, some animals become diurnal in winters and nocturnal in summers.
- The foremost difference is the difference of time they are active or sleepy. Day active animals perform well whereas night active animals are kings at night.
