shunt field are parallel and hence have low current. Therefore it have more number of turns and core gets saturated due to which flux will be constant.
Series generator have series winding and thus a high armature current is same as field current.Due to which resistance of field winding is low.Core flux is linear.

In Shunt generators armature current is equal to sum of field current and load current while current and load current is the same in series generators field.
The other differences between them are -
- A shunt generator field winding has a thin conductor, whereas the series generator has thick conductor.
- The field winding of a shunt generators has a higher resistance and a large number of turns as compared to the series generators.
