An independent branch can operate separately from any other branch and is not reliant on anyone for the results.

1. Dependent branch accounting :- When the policies and administration of a branch are totally controlled by the head office who also maintains its accounts the branch is called dependent branch.

2. Independent branch:- When the size of the branches is very large their function become complex.

A dependent branch relies on other branches to operate.

The difference between dependent branches and independent branches are as follows:

  • A branch that does not have its library is referred to as a "dependent branch."
  • The head office has complete authority overall records. When the corporate headquarters has complete control over the policies and administration of a branch.
  • Branch accounts are written up at the main office, and ports and refunds are received from the branch in this arrangement.
  • Independent branches carry out their daily operations independently while conforming to the central office's overarching policies.
  • These branches look after the entire system.
  • They can buy on the street, deliver products to the headquarters, pay cash from the monies released, and deposit the funds in their accounts.
