Diabetes insipidus should not be confused with diabetes mellitus (DM), which results from insulin deficiency or resistance leading to high blood glucose, also called blood sugar. ... Insufficient secretion of insulin causes diabetes Mellitus or hyperglycemia.
Deficiency of Antidiuretic hormone (ADH) causes diabetes insipidus.
In diabetes Mellitus the urine contains sugar caused due to insufficient insulin.
In diabetes insipidus there is no sugar in urine.
