Answer:

The main difference between the two is that diffusion can occur in any mixture, even when two solutions aren't separated by a semipermeable membrane, whereas osmosis exclusively occurs across a semipermeable membrane. In diffusion, particles move from an area of higher concentration to one of lower concentration until equilibrium is reached. In osmosis, a semipermeable membrane is present, so only the solvent molecules are free to move to equalize concentration.

Hope it helps.

Answer:

Osmosis

1. It is limited only to the liquid medium.

2. Requires a semipermeable membrane.

3. Depends on the number of solute particles dissolved in the solvent.

4. Requires water for the movement of particles.

5. Only the solvent molecules can diffuse.

6. The flow of particles occurs only in one direction.

Diffusion

1. Occurs in all mediums - Solid, Liquid and gas.

2. Do not require a semipermeable membrane.

3. Depends on the presence of other particles.

4. Do not require water for the movement of particles.

5. Both the molecules of solute and solvent can diffuse.

6. The flow of particles occurs in all the directions.

Hope it helps:)
