Answer:

What is a bond moment and dipole moment?

mathematically dipole moment can be expressed as

= charge on any pole x distance between the poles.= qxd (expression used in physics)

in chemistry, dipole behavior in a bonded atoms arises due to difference electronegativity between two atoms (electronegativity is reason for development of partial charge in the bonded atoms). if the dipole moment is evaluated for two bonded atoms it is called bond moment.

the net dipole moment of the molecule can be evaluated as vector sum of all bond moments and termed as dipole moment (in chemistry).

a molecule is considered polar if dipole moment of molecule (vector sum of all bond moments) is nonzero.
