Difference between direct and indirect method of respiration

Direct respiration: takes place by the method of diffusion where no medium is involved, exchange of gases takes place directly. Mostly occurs in lower animals.


Indirect respiration: here, medium is needed in order to take air to different cells of body. No direct method is employed. Generally found in higher and complex organisms.
