speed control of Induction Motor (IM) has been a prominence area of research replacing DC motors. However Industrial applications require efficient control of IM drives. Hence, dynamic response of two control schemes is analyzed with respect to speed tracking and load disturbances and their performances are compared. A particular control scheme among them can be chosen depending upon requirement of application. This paper details the software implementation and comparison of a vector control scheme (Indirect field oriented control) with scalar control scheme (Direct torque control) for AC drive used for Induction motors.
