Diffused light is light that passes through a material that softens it and spreads the light out. This may be diffusion gel, a frosted window or cloth. This material is larger than the light source so “increases” the size of the light and scatters the light output.

Indirect light is reflected light. So the light source is bounced off a (usually matte white) card, reflector, wall, ceiling or whatever.
