*distance is a scalar quantity while displacement is a vector quantity
*distance can be measured in all directions while displacement can be measured in only one direction
*distance is the sum total of the path travelled by a moving objects from intital point to the final point while displacement is the shortest distance measured from initial point to the final point

Distance is the actual path traversed by a body whereas displacement is the shortest distance between final and initial position
