Difference between earthing and electric discharge

the flow of electric current through a gas is generally termed as electric discharge .however flow of current through a solid or liquid resulting in neutralisiton of accumulated charge is also called electric discharge. earthing is the proper connection of expose metal part of an electric circuit to the ground .
