difference between echo and reverberation. If the speed of sound is 344 / s. Find the minimum distance between source of sound and obstacles so that echo is distinctly heard from box

Reflection of sound is known as echo .echo is the phenomenon of repetition of sound from an obstacle when a reflection of sound from an obstacle reaching to eardrum after 0.1 sec.

While reverberation is the collection of reflected sounds from the surface                   in an enclosure like an auditorium  .It is a desirable property of auditoriums      to the extent that it helps to overcome the inverse square law drop off of sound intensity in the enclosure.

if velocity of sound is = 344 m/sec                                                                       time of reflection of sound =0.1 second

then d = 344 * 0.1

=34.4 m

and hence the minimum distance of sound after reflected from an reflecting surface in 0.1 sec

d = v t / 2

  = 34.1/2

   =17.2 m
