Edible Oil:
Edible oil is mostly plant based oil and is manufactured for human consumption wholly. It can be broken into 3 large groups.
1. Saturated Oils:
These oils are solid at room temperature. For example margarines.
2. Monounsaturated Oils:
They are liquid at room temperature but begin to solidify in the refrigerator. For example olive oil, peanut oil.
3. Polyunsaturated Oils:
They remain liquid at room temperature or when chilled. For example walnut oil, sunflower oil.
Non-edible Oil:
Non-edible oils are, of course, differentiated from edible oils such as petroleum-based products (gasoline, fuel oil, and related products. Various forms of grease and lubricant may also be considered as non-edible oils.

The following are the differences between Edible oil and non Edible oil:

Edible Oil :

Vegetable oils and other food oils which are added in cooking or in food items are called as Edible oils.
example : Sunflower oil,
These are almost plant derived oils consisting of carboxylic acids with long hydrocarbon chains . The carboxylic group makes the oil edible.

Edible oils are classified into :
Saturated
Monosaturated
 Polysaurated.

Saturated oils are solid at room temperature .

example : Margarine which is made from vegetable oil which contains unsaturated fat not good for health.
Mono saturated oils are liquids at room temperature. Example olive oil, groundnut oil,

Poly saturated oils remain liquid at room temperature or even when chilled.example Sunflower oil.

Non- Edible oils :Other oils which cannot be added in food  are called as Non edible oils such as engine oils, grease and lubricants etc.

A large number of plants produce non edible oils such as Neem, Rubber seed, Bio fuel etc.
