Exhaustive testing :

According to exhaustive technique, every scenario with every possible input combination is checked. But this testing type is not practical  because of :

1) deadliness
2) timing constraints
3) the duration of app utilization
4) too complex design
5) a number of possible outputs

Effective technique :

To ensure software application, reliability and project success software testing plays a very crucial role. Everything can and should be tested :

1) if all defined requirements are met
2) performance of the application

Exhaustive Testing: This is a complex and fully detailed testing. In real world situations, this testing is impossible because it involves testing all scenarios with each possible input. Achieving deadlines, various possible outputs, timing constraints and number of possible test environments are some reasons why this kind of testing is not feasible.

Effective Testing: This is performed when the purpose and goal of the testing effort is clearly specified. The degree of success in accomplishing the testing goals determine the effectiveness of the testing. Some of these goals are testing to check for software reliability and no bugs in final product, testing the development cycle at each phase to eliminate bugs at the earliest and for meeting of user expectations.
