Electrovalent compound/bond:

(i) Electrovalent bond are also known as ionic bond, basically those compound form with phenomenon of electrostatic bond are said to be electrovalent compound. for example- the formation of salt ( NACl)

(ii) Electrovalent compounds are solid and are somewhat hard because of the strong force of attraction between the positive and negative ions. These compounds are generally brittle and break into pieces when pressure is applied.

(iii) electrovalent compounds have high melting point and boiling point. This is because a considerable amount of energy is required to break the strong force of attraction.

Covalent compound/bond:

(i) Those compound formed by the phenomena of covalent bond says to be covalent compound. For example- methane, ethanol.

(ii) These compounds are gas or liquid in state.

(iii) These compounds are basically low melting and boiling point

Answer:

) Electrovalent compounds are formed by complete rtransfer of electrons while covalent compounds are formed by sharing of electrons between 2 atoms. 2) Electrovalent compounds are more soluble in polar solvents like water while covalent compounds are more soluble in non polar solvents like methane
