● One of the main differences between electrochemical cell and electrolytic cell is that electrochemical cell converts chemical energy into electrical energy whereas electrolytic cell converts electrical energy into chemical energy.

● Electrochemical cell do not need external Electrical energy source where as electrolytic cells do need external electrical energy source.

● Spontaneous reactions take place in an electrochemical cell where as non spontaneous reactions occur in an electrolytic cell.

● In an electrochemical cell electrons are as from anode to cathode whereas in an electrolytic cell electrons are passed from battery to the cathode and from there they enter the anode through electrolytic solution.
