HEY FOLK....

DIFFERENCES ARE:-

→ Covalent bonding is a form of chemical bonding between two non metallic atoms which is characterized by the sharing of pairs of electrons between atoms and other covalent bonds WHEREAS,

Electrovalent bond (Ionic bond) is a type of bond formed from the electrostatic attraction between oppositely charged ions in a chemical compound. These kinds of bonds occur mainly between a metallic and a non metallic atom.

→ Electrovalent compounds are formed by transfer of electrons WHEREAS,

Covalent compounds are formed by mutual sharing of electrons.

→ Electrovalent compounds are good conductors of electricity in the molten state and in aqueous solutions but insulators in the solid state WHEREAS,

Covalent compounds are bad conductors of electricity.

→ Ionic compounds are made up of ions WHEREAS,

Covalent compounds are made up of molecules.

→ Electrovalent compounds generally have high melting and boiling points, WHEREAS,

Ionic compounds generally have low melting and boiling points.

→ Electrovalent compounds are usually soluble in water but insoluble in non-polar solvents WHEREAS,

Covalent compounds are soluble in non-polar solvents and in soluble in polar solvents

→ Examples of Ionic compounds are: HCl, KCl etc.

Examples of covalent compounds are: NH₃ , C₂H₅ etc.
