Element is a basic form of matter that can't e broken down into simpler substances by chemical reactions.

For ex. Copper, oxygen, hydrogen etc.

Compound

A compound is a substance composed of two or more elements, chemically combine with one another in a fixed proportion.

Ex. Water, methane etc

Mixture

Elements or compounds just mix together to form a mixture and no new compound is formed is called mixture.

  • A mixture has a variable composition
  • A mixture shows the properties of the constituent substance
  • Ex. Sugar in water etc
