absorption spectra is obtained when a solution absorbs light of particular wavelength and left the other wavelength.on passing solution through spectrometer dark lines are produced against white background which shows absorption....

on the other hand, emission spectra is obtained when a gaseous atom is heated till vapourized,it emits light of particular wavelength....in passing through spectrometer it shows white lines against dark background which shows emmision..
