Hormones:
- Hormones are intercellular chemical messengers which travel through the body to reach to target organ or cell and initiate a process. They are produced by endocrine glands.
- They act indirectly.
- For example: Insulin cause cells to convert glucose into glycogen.
Enzyme:
- They act as a biological catalyst to speed up the reactions in the cells.
- Their action is direct.
- For example: Salivary amylase, an enzyme present in saliva converts starch into sugars
