Esterification :

The reaction in which a carboxylic acid combines with an alcohol to form an ester is called esterification.Esters are formed.
Saponification :The alkaline hydrolysis of esters is known as saponification.Soap is formed.

\small{Esterification}

* is the reaction in which a carboxylic acid combines with an alcohol in the presence of little conc. sulphuric acid to form an ester. the esters so formed are sweed odoured ...

* this is a reversible reaction

* this is an example for dehydration reaction

* used to prepare different type of esters

\small{Saponification}

* is defined as the hydrolysis of an oil under basic conditions leading to the formation of sodium salt of carboxylic acid and glycerol..

* this is an irreversible reaction

* this is an example for hydrolysis

* used to prepare soaps from long chain esters or glycerol...
