.Face value of a digit in a number is the digit itself whereas the place value of a digit in a number is the digit multiplied by thousand or hundred or whatever place it is situated in the place value table.
Example: for the number 25486 the face value of digit 5 situated at thousand's place is 5 and the place value is 5 x 1000 = 5000.
2. Face value of a digit always remain the same irrespective of the number it is used. For example the face value of digit 2 in 26455665 and in 290 is the same and is digit 2 itself.Whereas the place value of a digit changes with number it is used in.
For example the place value of 2 in 26455665 is 20000000 and in number 29 it is 20.
