difference between fedding and faulting ?

folds: caused due to horizontal movement..
fault : cause due to vertical movement..
folds: fold mountains are made by the process of folding..
fault : Block mountains are made by the process of faulting..
folds: forces move towards common centre..
fault: forces move away from common centre..

A fold is a bend in the rock strata. Folding: Is a type of earth movement resulting from the horizontal compression of rock layers by internal forces of the earth along plate boundaries. Parts of a fold : layers of rocks of continental crust bent in upfolds called anticlines & downfolds called synclines.
