Answer:
When you close a document in Word, the document itself leaves your screen and you can no longer edit it. The program remains open for you to switch to another document. When you exit Word, the entire program closes and must be opened again in order to edit any documents.

The main difference is that when you exit a file you need to open that program again.
- The file helps the user to store the data in a record format that he can use later.
- Whenever a user clicks the close button in a file, that particular document page closes, but the user can use that program again.
- If the user is choosing the exit menu the entire program closes.
- Then the user needs to open the program again if he wants to do it again.
