A filter can be used to display all the data of a single table based on a specified condition. Altering the data displayed changes the original data of the table.

A query can be used to display selected data from one or more tables based on a specified condition or no condition at all. The result of the query can be saved for later use. Manipulating the data of a saved query does not affect the original data.
