1. The First World War (WWI) was fought from 1914 to 1918 and the Second World War (or WWII) was fought from 1939 to 1945.

2. WWI was triggered by the assassination of the archduke of Austria-Hungary while WWII was triggered by the bitterness over the outcome of WWI which was used by Adolf Hitler to lead Germany to war.

3. The nations which participated in World War-I were divided into two groups namely ‘The Central Powers’ and ‘The Allied Powers’, whereas the nations which participated in World War-II were referred to as ‘The Axis Powers’ and ‘The Allied Powers’ .

4. World War-I is a fight between monarchies i.e Fighting of countries was for nationalism and pride, whereas World War-II is a fight amongst fascists, communists, and democrats and to safeguard the “superiority” of Aryan race according to Adolf Hitler.

5. Nearly 10 million people died in WW1, whereas approximately 52.2 million people died because of the World War-II.

6. A large number of new weapons were used in World War-I i.e. The Machine gun and Liquid fire. Tanks, poison gas were also used, whereas many new weapons of destruction were invented and used in the World War-II. The most dangerous of these was the atom bomb.
