Full moon and new moon are terms related to Lunar calander.

Full moon means when moon has the brightest light or when the moon is totally visible. In India full moon day is also called Poornima.

Full koon day is the last day of the lunar month.

New moon day or no moon day is the day when least or no light falls on the moon and moon is not visible.

In India new moon day is also called as Amavasya.

New moon day is the first day of the lunar calander.
