G is the symbol used to identify the universal gravitational constant, g is the symbol used to denote the gravitational acceleration.

• G is the gravitational constant but g denotes acceleration due to gravity.


• G is numerically equal to  where g is numerically equal to 9.8 m/s^2


• G is the magnitude of force of attraction between the two bodies of masses each of 1 kg placed at a distance of 1 m whereas g is acceleration produced in a freely falling body due to the gravitational force of the earth.
