Every research is directed towards some objective; it can be a general objective or specific objective.

General Objective describes the general orientation of the study. It is the first level of specification.

The specific objective also describes the trend learning activity, but it is formulated in terms of observable behavior. The results are clearly expressed and have only one interpretation.

Let's explain this with an example; epidemics is the sudden outbreak of the disease which disastrously affects the entire population. To cope up with the situation, a team of doctors is sent to take care if the situation. The general objective, in this case, would be to equip the district team with the right knowledge and skill to respond to this situation and to prevent the spreading of disease. Whereas, the specific, in this case, should be: describe the criteria for detecting an outbreak in the district, critical steps taken to respond to the disease and to explain the meaning of an outbreak.
