Gene is a stretch of a DNA that determines a particular trait.Genes can mutate and take two or more alternative forms, now these are called alleles of a particular gene.
Now alleleoccurs in a fixed spot in a chromosome and in humans we have two sets of chromosomes.

Section of DNA that governs a trait is gene. Gene mutates and take its alternative forms called alleles. Usually in gametes only one form of gene (allele) comes.At a locus of homologous Chromosome only two alleles are present and during spermatogenesis and oogenesis only one allele comes to sperm or ova.
