genetic drift refers to the change in the frequncy of some genes in population which provides diversity without any survival disadvantage and it is one of the key factors in the modern concept of evolution butwhere as mutation refers to the changing of structure of a gene variant from that by transmitting to subsequent generations .

Mutation

Mutation refers to the phenomenon of generating errors while DNA gets copied since no biological process is completely reliable.

Genetic Drift

It is the rift in the similarity of genes in species that is caused by factors such as geographical/spatial isolation.

Every time the DNA is copied during the formation of a new organism, there are minute errors called variations. The variations in the two isolated groups of the species develop differently under different environmental conditions and in time, result in their inability to reproduce with each other.
