Glycolysis :

  • It occurs in the cytoplasm.
  • It is the first step of respiration.
  • Glucose is broken down to form 2 molecules of puruvate.
  • It results in the liberation of 2 ATP and 2 NADH.
  • It is not connected with oxidative phosphorylation.

Citric Acid Cycle :

  • It occurs in the mitochondria.
  • It is the second step of respiration.
  • Water and carbon dioxide are formed from pyruvate.
  • Two molecules of acetyl Co-A oxidize to give 6 molecules of NADH and 2 molecules of FADH$$_2$4.
  • It is connected with oxidative phosphorylation.

Answer:

Glycolysis is determined as the chain of reactions, for the conversion of glucose (or glycogen) into pyruvate lactate and thus generating ATP. On the other hand, the Citric acid cycle involves the oxidation of acetyl CoA into CO2 and H2O. ... The citric acid cycle (Krebs cycle) is a cyclic pathway.
