Ground Wave propagation is a method of propagation of radio waves that use the area in between the surface of the earth and the ionosphere for transmission. The ground waves can propagate a considerable distance over the earth's surface especially in the low frequency and medium frequency portion of the radio spectrum.

The radio waves that have high frequencies are called as space waves. These radio waves have the ability to propagate through the atmosphere, from a transmitter antenna to a receiver antenna. The radio waves can travel directly or can travel after getting reflected from the earth's surface to the troposphere surface of the earth.
