Haloalkanes are formed when any halogen (i.e.cl,br,i etc) get attached to any hydrocarbon chain (i.e. aliphatic)containing only single bonds replacing hydrogen atom .
For eg.1:-) Chloromethane.
i.e.CH3Cl. Haloalkanes is also known as Alkyl Halides.

Haloarenes are formed when any halogen get attached to any hydrocarbon ring (i.e.aromatic)replacing hydrogen atom.
For eg.1:-) Chlorobenzene.
