hard water contains calcium and mafnesium salts which stops soaps from dissolving into them

HARD WATER -

1- It contains calcium and magnesium salts in the form of hydrogen carbonate, chloride and sulphate.

2- It does not give lather with soap.

3- Hard water forms precipitate with soap, so unstable for laundry.

4- Produce less bubbles.

5- Have a high pH value.

6- Hard water is better than soft water for drinking.

SOFT WATER - 

1- It is treated water in which the only is sodium.

2- It gives later with soap.

3- Good for laundry use.

4- Produce more bubbles than hard water.

5- Have a low pH value.

6- Soft water is better than hard water for skin use.
