Katakana in Japanese is usually used to write foreign words. Suppose if I write India in Japanese , it would be like this " インド "(it is pronounced as E~n doh). It's Romaji would be Indo.

In hiragana, we usually write Japanese names and some other Japanese words. If we have to write foreign names, we use Katakana.

I also know Japanese somehow and I began my journey to learn Japanese with Hiragana.
