The homosphere is a zone of the atmosphere where the constituent gases are fairly well mixed-on average the composition is homogeneous throughout. The heterosphere lies above the homosphere and is a zone of poor mixing where the average composition varies depending on the location within it.

Homosphere

The homosphere is the region in which intense mixing commands the microscopic diffusion of gases. In this domain, which happens below 100 km which is about 60 miles, where the proportion of the environment manages to be autonomous of height.

Heterosphere

The heterosphere is the uppermost region of the Earth's environment, in which vapors are fractionated according to their microscopic weight. It extends beyond the homosphere, where chemical components are well combined. On an ordinary basis, the heterosphere occurs at a height of about 80 km.
