Difference between hrc fuse and semiconductor fuse

Semiconductor fuses and HRC fuses can be different in construction, rupture time and current rating .

Explanation:

i) Semiconductor fuses made of semiconductor materials (sensitive to both current and voltage) while HRC fuses are built using metal between contacts (Sensitive to current).  

ii) Semiconductor fuses are faster the HRC fuses

iii) Semiconductor fuses have less current rating so they are used to protect IGBT, MosFET etc. HRC fuses have higher current rating so they used to protect Motors and other heavy loads.
